3 CARDS AND ONE GIFT/SHAGUN ENVELOPE-DT PRIYADARSHINI

Hello friends,

This is Priyadarshini, Creative Designer @craftyscrappers

and today I have a new project to share with you as an inspiration for our new challenge with theme is ‘Celebrate Dusshera & Diwali’.

Our festive season has started and its months of fun and joy and celebration. Its my favorite time of the year and the most busiest time for me.
With Navaratri celebrations just over and Diwali around the corner, I decided to make 4 projects as an inspiration for Craftyscrappers blog this month.

challenge26celebratedussehra n diwali.jpg

For these projects I used only one stamp set and 2 stencils. I wanted to show that 4 projects can be made with minimal supplies. I have used few supplies to make these projects. As always, my cards are CAS (clean and simple). I have made 3 cards and one gift/shagun envelope.

To start with i have used Craftyscrappers  Stamp set:
Crackling Deepawali

st-fest-19.jpg

along with Craftyscrappers stencil:
Abstract stars

and Craftyscrappers stencil:

IMG_20181022_184420.jpg

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  1. I took craftyscrappers premium white card stock and placed the rangoli stencil on one side of the card.
  2. I added some embossing paste to the stencil.
  3. Once I removed the stencil, I immediately added the sparkle embossing powder and let it dry for about 10 minutes before I heat set it.
  4. By the time it dried, I stamped and colored the image.
  5. After 10 mins, I heat set the embossing powder.
  6. Using some strong adhesive, I added the image to the card.
  7. To finish the card, I added the sentiment and some liquid pearls
  8. (Used rangoli stencil as it has a festive look)

PROJECT#2: SHAKER GIFT TAG

IMG_20181022_184410_1.jpg

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  1. First for this tag, I die cut a lot of circles. One for the base and about 10 more die cuts to stack them up. Then, I also die cut a circle to close the shaker using acetate. I used two sizes of circle die cuts to make 10 circle frames.
  2. I stamped the sentiment on the base and heat embossed with gold powder.
  3. I stamped and colored a rocket and a lamp.
  4. I used tacky glue and started stacking the die cuts up.
  5. Before adding the last two frame layers, I added the shaker elements and the acetate sheet and twine thread.
  6. I added the last two frame layers and then added the stamped the images to finish the tag.

PROJECT#3: SPINNER CARD

IMG_20181022_185117.jpg

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  1. I took 5.5 x 5.5 inche white cardstock and distress inked the entire cardstock.
  2. Once its dry, I clear embossed the background using rocket image from the stamp set.
  3. I stamped lots of the rocket and coloured them. Then fuzzy cut these rockets and keep them aside.
  4. To make the spinner feature, I die cut 5 rings (like the frame which goes behind the sentiment and it holds the sentiment in place)
  5. One circle die cut to stamp the sentiment.
  6. One larger ring die cut to hold all the rockets.
  7. I place the 5 rings in the middle of the card and added some foam adhesive to the centre.
  8. I carefully place the large ring (it will sit easily around the first set of rings). This large ring works as the spinner
  9. Using strong adhesive, I added the sentiment to the centre.
  10. Since the large ring is protruding out its easy to add the rockets. I used tacky glue to add the rockets and the spinner element works.

  2. Once the ink was dry, I added gold die cut doily (I cut it into half and added them on each side of the envelope)
  3. I added the sentiment to the center of the envelope and added a gold frame to it.
  4. To finish the card, I added a small lamp and added a red ball chain to the lamp so it looks like its hanging.
  5. I also added some gemstones and rhinestones.

CARD#1: VELLUM BUTTERFLY CARD

IMG_1326.JPG

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  1. I took 4 different shades of grey colour inks from Altenew
  2. I secured my stencil to the card stock.
  3. Using ear buds, I started adding colour to the stencil. I went by randomly adding colour to give each design in the stencil highlights.
  4. I stamped and coloured the butterfly
  5. I die cut the stencilled piece and added the same to a circle vellum piece
  6. I added the butterfly to the stencilled circle and stamped some little butterflies and sentiment.
  7. To finish the card, I added some embellishments.

Tips

  • Tracing paper can also be used as an alternative or vellum IF only being used for backgrounds.
  • This technique using ear buds works well for stencil which has intricate design as well as large designs.
  • Dye inks works best for this technique.

  1. I secured the stencil to the cardstock
  2. Since I am using colour pencils for this technique, I keep them sharp.
  3. I chose rainbow colour and started randomly adding colour
  4. Here, I used polychromous pencils
  5. I took 2 shades of each colour for this technique.
  6. Once I am done colouring, I added an oval die cut with a sentiment to the centre of the card
  7. To finish it, I added some half dull gold beads.

Tip:

  • Any colour pencil works for this technique
  • Any stencil design works for this technique.
  • Best technique for one-layer card

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  1. For this card, I did regular stencilling using Altenew inks
  2. I stamped my favourite image and coloured her.
  3. When I fuzzy cut this image, I left some gap from the image and added a black outline using alcohol markers.
  4. I added the sentiment and liquid pearls to finish the card.

Tip:

  • Black stock can be used instead of alcohol markers as outline
  • This technique is best for one-layer card.

Which is around 200GSM  in thickness,Double Coated- Mat Finish. so without further ado, lets start with the step by step tutorial….

Heres the final look of my cards:

IMG_20180805_123339.jpg

Possible image 1

Untitled-1.png

step1.png

I used Craftyscrappers premium white cardstock and  3D 2-IN-1DESIGN- hexagon stencil ( It contains 2 pieces of stencils) for the background of my card.

IMG_20180803_174613.jpg

step2.png

I placed the First stencil over the cardstock and blended with yellow ink.
IMG_20180803_174628.jpg
step3.png
After that i placed the second stencil over the previously yellow stenciled background and blended with orange ink.
IMG_20180803_174742.jpg
This is how it looks once the orange ink is applied over the previously stenciled background.
IMG_20180803_174932.jpg
step4
I wanted to create a 3d look so I again placed the second stencil and applied some yellow ink and got a really  beautiful 3D background.
IMG_20180803_175059.jpg
Check this out, such a pretty 3d design….
IMG_20180805_145609.jpg
step5
Next i kept the background for my card aside, and started working
on the front of the card.
I stamped the sentiment ‘because i have a sister i’ll always have a friend‘ sentiment from the stampset  No#1 bro and sis on a panel of white cardstock and used flower and leaf die cuts and adhered all the elements on stencilled background.
card1.jpg
step6
I was carried away with the beautiful 3D 2-IN-1 HEXAGON PATTERNS stencil that i created another card in the shades of blue.
For the second card i used shades of blue inks and went with the same procedure
( light color first then dark and again light)
Here is how my second card looks:

Here is closer look at both of my cards:
