Devika Gujral here, l Creative Designer @craftyscrappers
Wish you a very Happy Dusherra and sending you Durga puja wishes ūüôā
Hope you all had fantastic festivals ūüėÄ
Diwali fever is on..so today I have a pretty Diwlai themed colorful card for you.

challenge26celebratedussehra n diwali.jpg

To create my Diwali themed card i have used,
craftyscrappers Premium white cardstock

WHITE finalBLENDING.jpg

Craftyscrappers Premium white cardstock is an amazing cardstock, its smooth, its the right thickness and overall it takes in watercolors superbly.
Earlier in one of my video tutorial, i did mention how it takes up the shimmer sprays and blends them evenly.
Though the cardstock is around 180-200gsm in thickness its just so perfect for stamp coloring.
even the outline stamping gives a crisp image on that.
i recommend this cardstock to all of you, if you want the colors to blend in and give a smooth effect, you should try this paper out ūüôā

along with Craftyscrappers stampset, SHUBH DEEPAWALI

ST-FEST-23.jpg

This stamp set is so so pretty and traditional, especially the image is a perfect depiction of the auspicious festival of Deepawali, and the sentiments are just beyond perfect.
There are so many possibilities to use this particular stamp sets to create endless cards and tags.
its just awesome!

A BRIEF TUTORIAL

  1. Take a piece of Craftyscrappers: Premium White Cardstockand cut it to the desired size.
  2. Take the Distress inks and create a background by blending them with the blending tool.
  3. As I wmated to use “Diwali themed colours,” I started off with Spiced Mermalde Distress Ink at the bottom and then layered Wilted Violet, Picked Rashberry and Candid Apple..covering each portion at a time making sure to overlap all the colours until I was happy with it.
  4. Spintz some water on it and immediately lift it with a paper towel to get the bleached effect.
  5. Stamp the Lantern image from the “SHUBHDEEPAWALI ” stamp set on a masking sheet.
  6. Stamp the Lantern image using Black Archival ink on the coloured background.
  7. Mask this stamped image and stamp the lantern image again…this way you will get overlapping and natural, free flowing look of the lanterns..
  8. Repeat this step till you cover the entire portion.
  9. Stamp the sentiment at the bottom with Black Archival ink.
  10. Foam mount the image on a piece of one folded white cardstock and your Diwali card is ready.

PROJECT#1: DEEPAWALI SHAKER CARD

1a.jpg

¬†This one is my favourite as it’s interactive and fun.
A BRIEF TUTORIAL:
  1. I used an oval die to partially cut a paper and then shaped it like a Diya.
  2. I have a unicorn horn die that I used as the light of the Diya.
  3. But of course, you can simply draw and cut it out.
  4. I then put acetate and created 2 separate shaker windows.
  5. I used Craftyscrappers shaker elements festive poppies to fill in my Diya.
  6. It looks so ethnic with this brown rustic color tone.
  7. I matted the panel onto a gold foil paper.
  8. The sentiment is from the stamp set.

IMG_1326.JPG

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  1. I took 4 different shades of grey colour inks from Altenew
  2. I secured my stencil to the card stock.
  3. Using ear buds, I started adding colour to the stencil. I went by randomly adding colour to give each design in the stencil highlights.
  4. I stamped and coloured the butterfly
  5. I die cut the stencilled piece and added the same to a circle vellum piece
  6. I added the butterfly to the stencilled circle and stamped some little butterflies and sentiment.
  7. To finish the card, I added some embellishments.

Tips

  • Tracing paper can also be used as an alternative or vellum IF only being used for backgrounds.
  • This technique using ear buds works well for stencil which has intricate design as well as large designs.
  • Dye inks works best for this technique.

  6. Once I am done colouring, I added an oval die cut with a sentiment to the centre of the card
  7. To finish it, I added some half dull gold beads.

Tip:
