BEAUTIFUL ENVELOPE CARD: a step-by-step tutorial.By DT:PRIYADARSHINI

Hi everyone,

This is Priyadarshini, Creative Designer @craftyscrappers
and today I have a different card project.
Its a envelope card tutorial.

Backup_of_FOR ALL VIDS AND BLOG WRITEUPS.jpg

Generally its a card in an envelope but I have turned an envelope into a card. Its a fun project and many ways to get creative with this.
But I am keeping it plain and simple for this tutorial.

For this tutorial i have used, Craftyscrappers beautiful critters stamp:

What’s up duck?

ST-ANL-25.jpg

along with the versatile stencil,

Create-a-scene(CLOUDS,LAND AND GRASS)

cs-stnl-11.jpg

But before I start, let me tell you our challenge for the month of JULY is ongoing,
if you have missed the previous post check it out here:

CHALLENGE#23:”MIRROR IMAGE STAMPING!”

So here’s my Finished Envelope Card:
envelope card.jpg
envelope card2.jpg

Untitled-1.png

step1.png

To make an envelope, I took a card stock measuring 10″ x 10″.

I placed it on my scoreboard an with the help of envelope template (which also has guide to make an envelope) I scored along the desired measurements to make an envelope.

envelope card-step1.jpg

step2.png
Cut the marked areas to create a triangle. Creating this small triangle helps the help close easily. The inside of the card measures 6.5″ x 6.5″
envelope card-step2.jpg

step3.png

Then I used Misti stamping tool for stamping (makes it very easy if I miss some areas while stamping). I used Altenew Jet black ink. Any black ink works. I have used What’s up duck stamps. Its a very beautiful stamp set with ducks and works for any weather themed card.

5.jpg

step4

I love colouring my images with colour pencils. I used Biyano colour pencils for colourng my stamped images. I fuzzy cut them using Tim Holtz scissors.

6.jpg

step5

To make the duck look like its sitting on water, I created a small slit in the water image and inserted my duck into the slit.

7.jpg

step6
I used create a scene stencil from craftyscrappers to create clouds and land. I used distress oxide inks and distress inks for stenciling.

step7.png

I adhered all the stamped pieces onto my stenciled background. I added this onto a back card stock (if you do not have a black card stock, take a white card piece and apply black ink onto the edges). Add this piece to the center of the envelope.

envelope card-closeup1.jpg

step8.png
I added ribbon on the back of the card. I stamped some images from the stamp set on the front of the card. I have left the sides of the card empty to write personal message. Since I focused more on the tutorial, I left the card front simple. Alternatively, the same can be decorated using pattern papers both on the out and in of the card.
Here’s the close-up:

CUTE HAPPY SUMMER SLIDER CARD: a step-by-step tutorial- Dt Sweety Gupta

Hello friends,
Sweety here, Creative Designer @craftyscrappers with a tutorial for a cute slider card,
that doesn’t need a die or any special equipment.

blog featrured header.jpg

Craftyscrappers has come out with really cute critters
stamps in the month of June and My favorite among them is the

HAPPY SUMMER” stamp set

ST-ANL-26.jpg

featuring really cute hippos in fun summery clothes.

But before I start, let me tell you our challenge for the month of JULY is ongoing,
if you have missed the previous post check it out here:

CHALLENGE#23:”MIRROR IMAGE STAMPING!”

Here’s the final look of the card I made using the stamp set:

sweety gupta-slidercard1.jpg

Untitled-1.png

step1.png

I started out with stamping images that I needed in black archival ink. This ink is permanent and does not smudge, so I can easily color the images using Touch New alcohol markers.

step1.jpg

step2.png

I fussy cut all the images. It’s easier to cut after coloring rather than the other way around. Do not forget to cut out the center of the swimming ring.

step2.jpg

step3.png

Next, I kept the rectangular floater somewhere in the middle on my card panel and drew some random lines to give shape to the pool.
step3.jpg
step4
Keep some gap between the floater and the lines to make sure you have room for the slider element to work.
step4.jpg
step5

It’s time to color the panel. I did some basic blending. Did you know Distress oxides blend beautifully with so many other types of colours including pigment inks? I spritz some water to give the blue panel more watery look.

step5.jpg

step6

Now onto the technical part. You will need 2 small sized 1 rupee coin (the new ones, I find the old 1 rs coins to be a tad bit bigger.). Start with cutting out 2 parallel lines for the slider to work, and trim it out. There’s no need to be precise but just try getting neat edges coz they will be visible. Add foam adhesive to the coin such that it fits nicely into the slit. Remove the backing and add the other coin.

step6.jpg

I hope the photos made the step very clear. It’s easy, isn’t it?

step7.png
All that’s left to do is to add our cut outs to the panel and of course, some final touches. This included adding touches of Sakura 3D gel pen to the mustache dots on the hippo, and a few white highlights.
SLIDER CARD.jpg
I also added glossy accents to the pool ring.

Here’s a quick boomerang video of how the card slider mechanism works.

So That’s all from my end today.I hope you like this bright, happy, summery card.

Do leave some love and feedback below and I will be back soon for more inspirations!

SWEETY GUPTA

Hi, This is Sweety Gupta here,
And I am a passionate crafter. I mainly make cards and art journals.

It is an immense pleasure that I am a part of Craftyscrappers DT .
Craftyscrappers is one of the leading Indian manufacturer of unique stamps and stencils and so many mixed media products.
I like both card making and mixed media. I make CAS cards mainly, but with dimension and fun elements. Shaker cards are a favourite. When it comes to mixed media, I work often with my art journals. Here, I feel like I have more space and layers and a variety of products to work with.

I am an Asst Manager at a government bank, but really a crafter at heart. I started crafting seriously almost 2 years ago, with limited craft supplies at hand. I came across Craftyscrappers and immediately fell in love with your products. I have to say that Craftyscrappers is a store full of variety and a one stop shop for crafters of all kind. I already own a lot of products from the store, and my hands are always itching for more.

Crafting is sort of a meditative experience for me. As a kid, my hobby was sketching. As a teenager, I made over 20 scrapbooks for my friends and cousins. Now, in the fast changing world of crafting, with the advent of stamps and dies, my interests lean heavily towards card making and mixed media. I derive inspiration at the oddest of places – the colour combination on a pillow cover, a quote with deeper meaning or even a particular stamp set!Challenges are fun to play along, but what’s most satisfying is creating personalised products. I have made personalised products for clients, which includes a wide range of interactive wedding cards, scrapbooks, canvas, and even a wedding calendar. One of my favourite amongst these has been a wedding invite, which received extremely positive reviews.

Craftyscrappers has contemporary/modern designs as well as traditional ones. So, crafters have a lot of options to choose from. The stamps are so unique and different and no Indian manufacturer makes them so. Oh the stencils are simply gorgeous! I am hoping to get my hands on shimmer pastes and try new crafts with it. Everything is so perfect for mixed media projects, as well as CAS cards, the two fields I like the best in paper crafting. Most importantly, your products are pocket friendly while delivering on quality.

I would also like to mention an incident here. Whenever I have messaged Ms.Konica Das (owner at craftyscrappers) regarding any issues faced, she has promptly replied and helped. She is such a dedicated person and I’d love to take this opportunity to work with her firm. Craftyscrappers truly does seem professional and customer centric.

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  • I took 2 blank tags and colored them using Craftyscrappers “Grape juice” and “dancing peacock” shimmer sprays and lift excess color using tissue ( here I just dabbed tissue paper on tags at random places)
  • Created texture on the first tag using Stencil “Geometrical patterns” and Craftyscrappers “Sprout” and “Stem” Shimmer paste , Just lay down the stencil on tag and spread generous amount of paste using palette knife ( I must tell you this pastes colors are so gorgeous and beautiful that makes you to fall in love with your project again and again) #MustHaveSupplies
  • For second tag I used another shades of Shimmer paste and those are “Cupcake” and “Blush” using same technique (To see these amazing shimmer paste result, don’t forget to watch the video, It’s already up on our channel)
  • Then I took 2 raw Sea Horse chipboard cut-outs and also covered entire cut-outs using Shimmer paste called “Butter” & Tinted gold” and for another cut-out I used “Jet” Shade.
  • To give the base for these Chipboard cut-outs, I used normal white sewing thread and pasted it on tag, after that I glue down the sea-horse cutout on tag, I follow the same process for both the tags.
  • Finished these tags by distressing the edges of tag using Black ink pad and adding some inspirational sayings…
