MIXED MEDIA MULTI PAGE ART JOURNAL SPREAD & TAG
By DT Member

blog ender.png

Today I have a MIXED MEDIA page art journal spread and a tag to inspire you all for the current Craftyscrappers Challenge.

(MIXED MEDIA MULTI PAGE ART JOURNAL SPREAD)

ed1.jpg

ed2.jpg

A Brief tutorial
(
MIXED MEDIA MULTI PAGE ART JOURNAL SPREAD)

  • I took 4 card-stock from Craftyscrappers and tear it from middle just to make hole of different sizes, as you can see in image.
  • I started coloring from bottom page using Craftyscrappers shimmer sprays, for 1st layer I used “Rusty Denim” , For 2nd layer used “Sweet Sunshine”, for 3rd layer I used “Dancing Peacock
  • and for 4th layer I used texture paste and created texture using stencil called “Geometrical patterns” and after it dries completely I colored the page using “Juicy Watermelon“, “Sweet Sunshine”, and “Rusty Denim” from darker shade to lighter shade.
  • In this step I distressed the torn parts using “Greasy Charcoal” chalk paint, this way pages will have depth and I also stamped dotted pattern stamp around the torn area, for this I used “INSPIRE” stamp set, I follow this stamping process for all the 4 pages. (for reference have a look on final page)
  • Distress all the 4 pages using black ink and glue them together but instead of using foam tape, I used chipboard so that it will have dimensional look.
  • I stamped girl image from “Happy HOLI” Stamp set, Colored it using watercolor and fussy cut the image & place it on the page as if that girl is coming from colored layers (That’s what my concept was) To lift up the girl image I used 2 to 3 layers of chipboard behind it.
  • I also spread silver glitter behind the girl image and to the front page I spread just a little amount of “Tinted Gold” shimmer paste using palette knife to add shine and sparkly look,
  • After this I stamped the quote (saying) stamp image from “HOLI” Stamp set, Fussy cut that image and adhere on the page using double sided foam tape.
  • Later on this page added flat back gems randomly to have a elegant look, And Voila!!! our multi-page Art journal spread is complete.

(MIXED MEDIA TAG)

ed3.jpg

A Brief tutorial
(MIXED MEDIA TAG)

  • I took Packaging cardboard and made cut-out of tag of 5 inches by 3 inches and glue down broken brush head on it.
  • Then I paste metal butterfly just to hide broken part of brush and also added sea-shells, art stones and micro beads. (Seed beads, micro beads, art stone works as a filler and also
  • In this step I covered entire tag with gesso and after gesso dries completely.
  • I colored the tag using “Tasty Tortilla” and “Muddy Pool” shimmer sprays.
  • I used gesso again just to add highlight little bit, in this step I took very little amount of gesso on dry brush and apply so that dimensional elements get highlighted.
  • Distress the edges and then added Shimmer paste using pallet knife.
  • Stamped sayings from “INSPIRE” stamp set and finished this tag.

By DT Member

blog ender.png

Today I have two colorful and fun-filled Cards to inspire you all for the current Craftyscrappers Challenge.

ed3.jpg

(YOU FILL MY DAYS WITH COLOR CARD)

ed1.jpg

A Brief tutorial
(YOU FILL MY DAYS WITH COLOR CARD)

  • I started with stamping some cute pichkari images from the Celebrate Holi Stamp set in Jet black Archival ink.
  • Colored these images using different Shimmer Sprays Sour eggplant, Ocean waves, Bitter lemon, Sweet pumpkin and one DI- candied apple and one Memento dye ink- Dandelion using water. Fussy cut them.
  • On a stitched textured white CS, at the top I carefully stamped the Splash image three times overlapping them from the Celebration Holi stamp set using Different DI and slightly spritzed it with water bottle. Love the faded dripping colorful result. Then once again I stamped those splashes using same DI for the good impact result.
  • Die cut a scalloped circle out of black CS and black foam sheet.
  • In the center I created my own sentiment using same stamp set again, this stamp set included so many cute text sentiments!
  • You Fill My Days With in jet black Archival ink and Colors in using different DI.
  • Now placed all the elements to create my colorful festive scene with fun using foam dots.
  • In the end, placed this panel on a colorful Plaid PP and adhered it on a white CS. And slightly applied some tinted gold SHIMMER PASTE for glittery impact with my brush for little sparkle.

GLTTER-ED AND COLORFUL SWEET WISHES CARD

ed2.jpg

No festival can complete without sweets so here is a colorful background card with sweet Gunjiyas and sparkly splashes!
A Brief tutorial
(GLTTER-ED AND COLORFUL SWEET WISHES CARD)
  • On a piece of Craftyscrappers premium white cardstock,  I placed the Splash stencil and applied Tinted Gold Shimmer Paste through it.
  • Blended different DI-Candied apple, carved pumpkin, lucky clover, twisted citrus, fossilized amber, wilted violet, seedless preserves, salty ocean and mermaid lagoon to create a colorful background.
  • Stamped the image of thali with gunjiyas using Jet black Archival ink from the stamp set, “Celebrate Holi“.
  • I colored the thali using Creamy Cantalope Shimmer paint(Pearl Finish) and colored the sweet image using DI- fossilized amber and carved pumpkin.

STRETCHING THE STAMPS IN A CREATIVE WAY : A CARD & TAGS
By DT Member
blog ender.png

Today I have a fun and colorful project to inspire you all for the current Craftyscrappers Challenge.

I have tried stretching my stamps in a very extraordinary way.The stamp set was designed for Holi festival but now as the festival is over I was confused how to make something out of it and that’s where this technique of stretching the stamps clicked to me.

STRETCHING THE STAMPS IN A CREATIVE WAY : A CARD

ed1.jpg

ed2.jpg

ed3.jpg

A Brief tutorial

  • I have used the triangle geometric shape in the stamp set,”Celebrate Holi”  which was actually representing gulal(Holi Powdered color) on the stamp set to create my background first with Distress oxide inks in various colors.
  • After that I have used You die and made a diecut on the finished background.
  • Took that diecut out and replaced it with same white cardstock diecuts thrice,
  • lastly topped the original distress oxide inked  diecut.
  • The sentiment is from same stamp set, “Celebrate Holi“.
  • stamped with Black Archival ink.
  • Lastly attached Cup sequins to adorn the card.

AVNI GDT POST.jpg

Since child hood, I was passionate towards crafts.. but one day I was searching something on YouTube and I came across Craftycrappers Youtube Channel,

I have been so impressed by Craftyscrappers products and the videos, that from last three months , I have taken crafts seriously… Not only that, they have a superb Design team, who are so talented in their fields… and their Craft videos/tutorials are so very inspirational and motivating… that has motivated me to come up with new crafty ideas and give life to my creations.

ST-BD-20[you r so enchanting].jpg
This Stamp set is so mesmerizing and unique and is designed by Pritusha Banerjee,
who is an established graphic artist in India.
Craftyscrappers has given a new meaning to the fairytales themes and these designs are the first ones to surface in india, which makes me so very proud.
All of craftyscrappers stamp sets are available in 3 different sizes, keeping in mind the crafters need.
They are available in 4x4inch stamp set size which is perfect for making your own handmade embellishments for craft projects.
The 5x5inch stamp set size is the medium size, used in making A3 cards, envelopes and layouts, and its is the size that i have used to create my make today.
And the 6x6inch Stamp set size, which is the jumbo stamp set size, used for making bigger projects like, using in  8 or 12inch scrapbook layouts, mixed media etc.

Along with Craftyscrappers versatile stencil, ” Victorian”.

cc-stnl-07.jpg
Which is a beautiful and high quality stencil, for you to create amazing backgrounds
or highlights on your projects.
These stencils comes in a trendy package and are 6.5×6.5INCH in size,

which makes it easier for you to twist and turn the stencils according to your work surface. You can also customised the size of your stencils with Craftyscrappers, they have a wide range of  mini stencils too…

So this is my completed EASEL CARD:

avni1.jpg

An easel card is another fun alternative to the ordinary fold.
It has a built-in easel, so artwork stands beautifully on display. As an added bonus, the card lies flat for ease in mailing.

Here i will show you how you can create a Square easel card, but keeping the measurements in mind, you can create an easel card in any size that you like.

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  • Cut one piece of card stock to 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ and one piece to 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″. The larger piece will serve as the base and the square will become the front.
  • The basic formula for an easel card is to divide the length of your base by two and score.  (This is the mid-point.) Next, divide one side by two and score. (This is the three-quarters point.)
    Place 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ block of card stock on scoring table horizontally. Score at 4 1/4″ and 6 3/8″.
  • Fold along score lines creating a mountain fold at the 4 1/4″ mark and a valley fold at the 6 3/8″ mark.
  • Flip card stock so that the largest panel is face down and the two smaller panels create a mountain fold. Apply double-sided tape to the outer panel.
  • Turn card stock so that adhesive is at the top and remove liner from tape. Adhere 4 1/4″ square to top of base, aligning top and side edges.
  • Decorate as desired. (I used “you are so enchanting” stamp set and Stencil, ” Victorian” with the “Shimmer paste-Splash” for this.
Be sure to include a border strip, paper embellishment or Shimmer tape like i have used here, which is Craftyscrappers Shimmer tape,” Rainbow” near the bottom edge of the base (i.e. the rainbow strip as can be seen above) as this will help hold the card open for display. The deeper you adhere the “stop,” the taller your card will stand.
  • Then i created the origami air balloon using some scrap paper from my stash.
  • Colored and fuzzy cut the stamp set, you are so enchanting’ and adhered it to the balloon carriage.
  • Added some mulberry flowers from the store, and the card was ready.

I would also like to share some other variations/measurements to make Easel cards:

#1) MEASUREMENTS TO CREATE A STANDARD A2 SIZE VERTICAL EASEL CARD

  • Cut card stock pieces to 4 1/4″ x 11″ and 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″.
  • Score 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece at 5 1/2″ and 8 1/4″. Fold along score lines.
  • Adhere double-sided tape to top folded edge. Remove liner from tape.
  • Adhere front panel to base, aligning top and side edges. Pull forward to stand in easel position.

#2)MEASUREMENTS TO CREATE A ROUND EASEL CARD

  • Cut one piece of card stock a little wider than your circle die and a little longer than twice the width. This will serve as the base. Score down the center and fold. Cut a second piece of card stock slightly larger than your circle die. This will become the front.
  • Using removable tape, adhere circle die to folded card stock with die edge just above the fold line. Die-cut with die-cutting machine to create folded circle base. Die-cut front circle shape as well.
  • Open folded circle. Fold top circle in half in opposite direction from center fold line. Apply double-sided tape to top half above fold.
  • Remove tape liner and adhere front circle, aligning all edges. Pull top circle forward into easel shape.
