A LITTLE  ABOUT ME

“I am from  Delhi. I am a qualified postgraduate engineer. I am a mother of three children and an entrepreneur . I started crafting couple of years ago in my free time. I am now a passionate crafter and hope to start my own crafting venture soon.
Frankly speaking I am not into crafting since my childhood. But some how colours have always fascinated me.I remember how I used to create handmade greeting cards, envelopes and wall decors in my childhood. I think it is in my genes. My mom has been my inspiration. She used to knit sweaters and  embroidered to add personalized touch to whatever she created.I am a self taught crafter and I am very passionate about it. I recently took few professional classes as well. My work has found home in many states of India.”

MY CRAFTING STYLE:

I do not have any favourite crafting style but I love to create different things with my personalized touch to make it different from other creations. Whenever I get an order I request my costumer to allow me to experiment with it in my own way.
Though I do not get much time to craft but you can always find time for something you love. I hardly watch T.V or hang around with friends . I choose to craft whatever time I get.

MY INSPIRATION:

As i mentioned above that my parents and my sister  have been my biggest inspiration as they have always encouraged me.My kids and my husband has always appreciated my work . When I started crafting there were very few people in India who actually motivated me. To name few I was most influenced by the work of :

Rajni Chawla
Anita Kejriwal
Hussena calcuttawala
Manisha Khandelwal
Neha Bhatt
Erum Tasneem
Meiraj Zaidi

MY VIEWS ABOUT craftyscrappers

Craftyscrappers has versatile range of products and I have been following craftyscrappers from past few months. They have beautiful collection of stamps and stencils and the best part is that they customize the stamp and stencil size according to our needs . It’s our own “Made in India “Brand and I have always taken pride in the products made in my own country and I always prefer to encourage the entrepreneurs from my own country . When they are working hard day and night to give us quality products of international standards then it is our duty to encourage them by taking pride in whatever good  they are doing .
I love their variety in designs and the themes of stamps which include Indian festival stamps as well . Moreover craftyscrappers provides us a great platform to showcase our talent with the world.

This stencil is a fun stencil, and it will help you to create a lot of background scenes for your sea-critters cards or just patterned background for other craft projects.
The size is just perfect!
and along with this stencils, i will also be using

the “You are rare” stamp set.

CARD# 1: YOU ARE SO MERMAZING.
(SPRITZING and MASKING TECHNIQUE)

10

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  • I took a 4×6 top folding card base.
  • Using some scrap papers I masked off the top and the bottom portion leaving the middle part open for distressing.
  • Using Peacock feathers and Cracked Pistachio distress oxides, I created the ocean effect on the card.
  • I took the “Clouds-n-waves stencil” , spritzed it with water and placed it on the distressed part.
  • Dabbed the excess water using a paper towel.
  • Gently, peel off the stencil.
  • The part of the stencil with water lightens the distressed color leaving behind wave effect.
  • Let it dry.
  • Stamped the cute images, the mermaid and the mystical whale from the stamp set, “You are so rare” and colored them with zig markers and fussy cut them all.
  • I trimmed 2 pieces of white card stock of the same size as the white parts on the card.
  • Foam mounted the white pieces on the card, after adhering the Whale image on the card and stamping the fishes using distress oxide.
  • Adhered the Mermaid image on top of the layers with foam adhesive supporting it from below.
  • Lastly, stamped the sentiment, from the same stamp set to complete the card.

CARD# 2: SWIMMING BY TO SAY HI
(COLOR LIFTING TECHNIQUE)

11

So i went ahead and made one more card in the same design with some minor changes.

A BRIEF TUTORIAL:

  • I distressed the card base using the Distress oxides.
  • For this card, I placed the stencil on the distressed part and using a baby wipe, lifted the color through the waves stencil.
  • Next, stamped the fishes in Archival ink.
  • Stamped the images, colored with zig markers and fussy cut them.
  • I trimmed the white pieces, but this time before mounting it with foam adhesive, I adhered a piece of acetate on them to create a see-through.
  • Adhered the whale image on the card and stamped other details.
  • Later, mounted the two white pieces, stamped the sentiment and adhered the Mermaid image on the card.

Hello!! My Arty and Crafty Friends,
This is DT Archana here, on the blog today.

today I have come up with an idea of colorful and vibrant project for you all.

But Before moving on with my STEP-BY-STEP tutorial, let me share with you my
MARCH DT KIT’2018 that i received:

MARCH DT.jpg

I am so in love with the products, the Stamps are one of a kind, with beautiful designs and are of high quality, They have come up with lots of mixed media stamps, which i totally love! then there are the shimmer sprays  which are a must have, such vibrant colors they are available in, with the touch of shimmer ,jazzes up makes each and every project, The good thing about these vibrant sprays are that they can be used in multiple surfaces.(Trust me, i have tried them on different surfaces, paper,wood,mdf,chipboard-and they work like a charm)
The stencils on the other hand are super quality with amazing designs, a crafter has the option to select the sizes, whether small or big and they have lots of mixed media stencils too, not to mention the layered stencils-ohh i love them!
And then there are these awesome chalk paints that are also my favorite, you can use them for backgrounds or even use them with stencils to add dimensional touch to  your projects, isn’t that amazing!!
You can grab all of these at the Sale price over at our store, before the sale ends and the products go out of stock!

Okay so moving on to my tutorial now…

MARCH BLOG FEATURED.jpg

So for my tutorial today, i have come up with an idea of colorful and vibrant project,
as accordance with the festival of colors-Holi.
And i will be demonstrating you, how i have created this vibrant looking altered mixed media shadow box, from start to finish.

Possible image 1

Here is the final shot of the project which we are going to create today:

2.jpg

Untitled-1.png

step1.png

First i took chocolate box dividers and glued it on thick cardboard and also glue down at cross junction in between to have more strength, as you can see here in picture below, (Here you can create this type of layout using thick cardboard as well)

step2.png

Next I took 8 bottle caps and place them into the slots and fixed with the help of glue gun as shown in picture, but here its all up to you to select the slots as needed and also add few more caps if you want.

step2.jpg

step3.png

I added melted glue in manner as if its flowing out or dripping out from caps, that’s what my whole concept was, i use hot glue gun to get that effect here, all you have to do is just tilt the project and start adding glue and it will flow down easily….

step3.jpg

step4.png

If you are new to mixed media then gesso is first thing you should have in your supplies list because its a primer, and in mixed media when we add different elements we need to prime those for the next step that is coloring so that those elements won’t absorbs colors, okay so moving ahead, after glue dries completely, I cover entire project using gesso and also added art stones..

step4.jpg

step5

I colored entire project using different shades of newly launched Shimmer sprays from Craftyscrappers, I used “Grape Juice“, “Rusty Denim“, “Sweet Sunshine“, “Dancing Peacock“, “Juicy Watermelon“, “Tasty Tortilla“, “Muddy Pool
(Color order is from Left to right), you can do coloring as you like at different slots with wide range of shimmer sprays available in Craftyscrappers Shimmer Sprays list of items.

step5.jpg

step6

I used gesso again just to add highlight little bit, in this step I took very little amount of gesso on dry brush and apply here and there as you can see in below snapshot…

step7.jpg

step7

Added black color shading around the dimensional color flow & also to the outside of art stones, and then added Shimmer paste using pallet knife just to add more shine, sparkle to the project, this step will bind the project together.

step9.jpg

step8

I took heart shape and spread Craftyscappers shimmer paste “Tinted Gold” all over it, Hold for a moment and just look at this beautiful shine and sparkle, Shimmer paste is must have product if you are glitter and sparkle freak like me 😉

step11.jpg

step9

In this step I distress the edges of heart shaped and wrapped white thread around it randomly & finish this project by adding sentiment from Craftyscrappers stamp set “Holi Sentiments” and also coated corners of bottle caps with black shade just to add extra depth for dripping color shades…. and boom!! your project is ready.

step13.jpg
